Message Oil Coolers are simple thing to buy.

1. That has a large surface area to radiate more heat.
2. Has a high fin count
3. has a larger capacity

Personally I think people over pay for this upgrade. Also when was the Stillen or Nismo Oil cooler been updated? This is place where you should get what ever has the latest technology.

The places radiator and oil coolers have changed are simple.

1. Fin count and fin thickness
2. Oil Flow capacity
3. Material of Core
4. Number of passes the oil goes thru the cooler.
5. Oil cooler location

1. Think of a 10lb piece of say copper in a 1'x1'x1" yes 1 inch. a 1 cubic ft of copper weighs 559 lbs! Anyways take that piece of copper and heat to say 200 degrees and let it sit till it becomes room temp. How long will that take versus say cutting the block in say 1000 pieces or even 1,000,000 basically more surface area more surface cooiling.

2. Basically you don't wnat your oil cooler to be a bottle neck to engine if it can't flow enough then the rest of your engine will suffer. This is hardly an issue now a days.

3. Some materials are better at radiating heat copper and aluminum are the most commonly used today.

4. This a good point most multi pass systems are said to be the best but for every pass there is a dimension return on cooling so for example a single pass my cool oil by say 50 degress a double pass by 60 degress 6 pass by 90 degrees and 10 pass by 100 degrees.

5. bottom line if you put your oilcooler somewhere that it can not receive and air its not going to work well no matter how good of a cooler it is.

I personally used a setrab in the factory intercooler side. But I think I undersized it and have been thinking of moving to a Permacool competition oil cooler.

Oh another very nice idea is to get on the SPL radiators with a built in oil cooler, that way you can have the best of both worlds.
